GreifMasters 2010 Bikepolo from Uolmo on Vimeo.

This past weekend while Minneapolis was racing Stupor Bowl 13, Germany was putting on an epic tournament. Just look at those shirts!

Uolmo has made some nice videos in the past and this is no exception. Check out his video detailing his trip from Geneva to Karlsruhe, Germany with his polo team L’equipe The Iron Ponies. As well as being a great editor and cameraman Uolmo, from what I hear, is also one hell of a polo player.

Chicago vs Milwaukee, 7th Midwest Championship

Dustin replaced the gerbils in his computer or something because he finally got around to editing the footage from one of the games of the 7th Midwest Bike Polo Championships in Columbia, MO.

In this game Machine Politics from Chicago comprised of Joe the Lefty, Matt Lane and Ben Schultz played against defending champs The Beaver Boys. The Beaver Boys from Milwaukee are comprised of Joe Burge, Brian Dellman and Kremin. This isn’t the championship game but the first time they met.

This probably the best video of a hardcourt game I have ever seen. With just one camera, Dustin aka Mr. Do is able to edit down the footage and get a really great sense of the flow and skills on display. I don’t remember how long the game was but this video clocks in at 4:30.

The quality is great so set that player to full screen and kick back check out some of the best players in the Midwest.

Back in the summer when Lucky proposed having a bike polo lock-in in January I was one of the first to commit. How could this go wrong? 23 hours of hardcourt bike polo in an indoor skating rink? Brilliant.

A van of Minneapolis poloists will be heading to St. Louis the weekend of January 16th for the St. Louis Dead of Winter Indoor Lock-in. 23 hours of pick up polo in a roller rink. Its going to be wicked fun.

Maybe a bit like this Donald Duck video I found on the Milano Fixed blog.

I made a quick and rough little application to calculate the amount of time it takes to run a Swiss system tournament. jQuery -ui sliders make it easy to run different scenarios. All the logic and important style is in the source. I’m too lazy to make it work directly in Wordpress, so it has it’s own home, http://www.mplsbikepolo.com/swisscalc/. Maybe I’ll make it better someday, but probably not.

Big Minneapolis Crew Goes To MWBPC7

Last weekend 2 teams and 3 free agents went down to Columbia, Mizzouri to play at the Midwest Bike Polo Championships. Dustin, Ebbin and Trevor played as Team Butt City and did us proud, advancing to quarterfinals against some of the best teams in the country. Ramon and Tim joined up with a third and were seeded 9th, above Butt City. The Four Norsemen were one position away from being in the 24-team double elimination bracket on Sunday. Kat joined up with 3 other women and got a great applause for a superior check. We had some great games, especially our game with TripleLEXXX who were an awesome, coordinated team.
Our hosts were incredible! Drew and Chip put us up and fed us breakfast. The tournament was extremely well-run–Vince’s bracket system worked great. The weather was awesome…there was great polo and cheap beer. All in all, an A+ weekend. Thanks COMO! Check out comopolo for more stats and media and blah blah.
To top it all off, The Court decidered that Minneapolis will be hosting the MWBPC8 sometime in May 2010. Stay tuned for more information here!
Here’s a couple of my favorite photos, the whole set is over here on flickr. Kat and Sven have some great shots too, you should check out all the photos tagged MWBPC. Hopefully Dustin’s video will be up soon too.

All-City Championship Polo Tourney: Triple Awesome!

Connor really came through with a great tourney on Sunday. We played three rounds of round robin with 8 teams and then a double-elimination bracket. There was grilling, great play and lots of fun. No major injuries or mechanicals, until Dustin let his bike roll into the wall after winning. Thanks everyone who came out to play, especially our ad hoc Team Show Us Your Titties, and all the spectators who came out.

Congrats to The Cosmopolotans on their victory!
