Midwest Open 2 in MKE results

Another Midwest Open has come and gone. Lots of familiar faces and many new faces. Even several new clubs, Green Bay and Mankato, MN to name a few.

Minneapolis did really well at this tournament. 5 of our 6 teams officially made it to Sunday with a computer hiccup pushing Shark Farts out of the top 32 for Sunday. We had several stand out players which helped propel their teams deep into the double elimination bracket on Sunday. Meg Lee and Aren are two such players. Aren even took home the MVP award for the tournament.

Congrats to Nick T of Minneapolis on his teams’ 7th place finish. He got the call asking him to be a substitute player at 9:30am on Saturday and helped Chris and Nick from Lexington to yet another excellent finish.

Thanks to Milwaukee Bike Polo for hosting and bringing the Midwest together for such a fun time.

The Midwest Open is happening this weekend in Milwaukee.

A field of ~44 teams will play 6 games each on Saturday. Sunday will see the top 32 teams advance to a double elimination tournament.

Worlds and Beyond

The World Hardcourt Bike Polo Championships are fast approaching. And before worlds, the North American Hardcourt Bike Polo Championship is taking place in Calgary, Alberta August 4-7.

Minneapolis qualified for NAHBPC but due to passport restrictions and broken wrists Nick, Dustin and Sven are unable to attend. We worked hard for that qualifying spot and it bums us out to no be able to use it. But them’s the breaks!

Nick, Dustin and Sven are, however, gearing up for the Wildcard tournament to be held before WHBPC. A two day tourney to compete for 8 team slots for the big show.

Minneapolis is also sending a team or two to the Thunder Bay Open and several teams will be heading to the Midwest Open in Milwaukee in October.

2011 is shaping up to be quite a busy year!

Headed to Indiana

Minneapolis Bike Polo is heading to Bloomington Indiana tomorrow to compete at Midwest Bike Polo Championships 9. This brings us full circle from last year when Minneapolis was gearing up to host the MWBPC8. Now its Bloomington’s turn to host and we couldn’t be more excited.

Dustin(Mr Do), Ebbin and Sven will be teaming up as Do’s Dont’s.

Jerry, Wade and Tim are teaming up under the banner Sweater Money.

And lastly but not leastly, John, James and Ramon are combing forces as JFW and The Fix Gear Phenomenon
